In the wake of arguably one of the most contentious US Presidential elections in history, acclaimed guitarist and composer, Shambhu, is poised to release a new album to help soothe the masses. His third full-length album, Soothe, is set to release in February 2017. His first single, “Gaia Sweet Divine,” features singer Kristin Hoffmann, Grammy nominated percussionist Jeff Haynes (Pat Metheny), world-renowned Indian flutist Ravichandra Kulur (Jethro Tull & Ian Anderson), and keyboardist Frank Martin (Lady Gaga, Elton John, Stevie Wonder). Soothe will be available for pre-order on iTunes on December 1, 2016.
Although technology is making our lives more efficient and innovative, Shambhu recognized that people are feeling more interrupted and disconnected. He saw the need to balance the rapid speed of technology and how it impacts lives with more personal reflection and calm. Thus, he transformed the stillness and silence of his own meditation into the inspiring music of Soothe.
About the album, Shambhu says, “SOOTHE is a musical journey into the stillness and beauty of my inner experience. It is music that expresses spontaneously like Nature with organic rhythms and flows. Enjoy SOOTHE as a background and foreground to inspire your own reflections and calm.”
The San Diego Reader describes Shambhu’s music as “meditative and slightly proggy Indian-jazz fusion akin to locals like Dornob and the late Indian sitar virtuouso Ravi Shankar.” Shambhu recorded Soothe at Magic Cottage Studios in Lagunitas, CA with producer, Todd Boston. Enjoy the first single, “Gaia Sweet Divine,” from Shambhu’s new album, Soothe, out February 1, 2017.
