REFLECTIONS (album) Review by Steve Sheppard

Shambhu's Reflections is a deeply moving album that showcases this remarkable guitarist at a new level of emotional openness and artistic maturity. This is music that looks inward without becoming introspective to the point of obscurity — it remains generous, accessible, and profoundly communicative throughout.

The guitar work is, as always with Shambhu, impeccable. His touch is never heavier than it needs to be; his phrasing never overextended. He plays with the quiet confidence of someone who has made peace with exactly who he is as an artist — and that confidence is magnetic.

The album's title is apt. These are pieces that do reflect — on memory, on beauty, on the nature of time and loss and gratitude. They do so without sentimentality, finding an emotional honesty that is increasingly rare in any genre of music.

Reflections is essential listening. Shambhu continues to surprise and move me with each new release.
